Simply Said: (In this devotional I quote a few verses twice. It is deliberate!)

Jacob had a dream at Bethel and the dream came while he was sleeping with stones as a pillow, in Genesis 28:11. While sleeping he sees a ladder going up into heaven and  beholds angels of God going up and down between heaven and earth and behold the Lord stood above it. Now listen to this promise: “I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it and to thy seed; and thy seed shall be as the just of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south; and in thee and in thy seed shall of the families of he earth be blessed. And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again unto this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.” What a great promise.!

Now look at Hebrews 13:5. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” What a great and precious promise that is unto us who believe and know the Lord Jesus Christ. God gave Abraham a promise, and Abraham was a man of faith. Yes he had weaknesses just like we do, but because it was God who promised, He kept Abraham and fulfilled all his will in and through Him……. and God gives us a promise that He will never, no never leave us nor forsake us.” What a great promise. “So that we can say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” In verse 12-14 and I know that there is a tendency for all of us to build a commitment to ourselves where ever we live, but listen and rejoice. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing our reproach. For he have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”

Seeing that we are speaking of Abraham, look at Romans 4:16 and love it. “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace, to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which of the faith of Abraham, the father of us all. (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickens the dead, and calls those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. In verse 20 he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God: and being fully persuaded that , what he had promised he was able also to perform. Therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. “ As we assemble these promises, and understand the faithfulness of God, our faith is strengthened. Add this verse to the lexicon of faith. Verse 23. “Now it was not written for his sake alone, that is was imputed to him; but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus from the dead; Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification.” I am rejoicing this morning because of these precious promises. God says in Romans 4:13-16: “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed: not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which of if the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.” I close with this today:

Romans 4:20-25 speaks about Abraham, “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that is was imputed to him; but for us also, the whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead. Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification.” Glory and honor belong to God, for it is Him who works within us to will and do of his good pleasure.
