Heritage Recovery

Heritage Recovery is a Christian based support ministry that offers prayer, guidance and resource information to assist families and those who suffer from any type of destructive behavior or habit.

Our Vision …

To see people set free from the bondage of addictive habits and behaviors that keep them from rising up to becoming the people God has called them to be.

Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. John 8:36

The Beginning of Heritage Recovery

Shaune and Stacey Dunaway are believers who fought addiction for over 15 years. After meeting and dating during the year 2000, this couple was joined in marriage the following year. Raising each other’s children from previous relationships, Shaune and Stacey brought another child into the world. Both of their backgrounds involved a Godly influence, but both came from very different life experiences.

The next several years were consumed by addiction. As it took over their family, and caused separation from God, they lost their children, home, jobs and everything else that mattered. In 2011, Stacey’s family made the decision to intervene and opted to do an intervention.

During the course of a very intense 13 month Christian rehab, Shaune and Stacey learned a great deal about themselves and more importantly, about their relationship with God. After completing the program, the Dunaway’s were reunited with their children and families.

In 2009 Heritage Christian Church began and it created an opportunity for them to embrace the call that God has placed on their lives. With the support of Pastors Chris and Amy Shaw many lives have been touched and restored by the grace of God and it is their prayer that many more will receive the healing transformation of the Lord.

For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Celebrate Recovery – A Christ Centered 12 Step Program

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the Twelve Steps and Eight Recovery Principles. By working and applying these biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. CR provides a “Safe Place” for real life change in Jesus Christ. As participants personally work through biblically-based steps in the context of the Christian community, we recognize the truth that we need each other to grow personally and spiritually. This is a place where we can fully become who God created us to be.

What Are Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups?

You may be thinking that recovery is only for those with alcohol or drug problems. This could not be further from the truth. The founders of CR found that only one-third of the people attending Celebrate Recovery are dealing with chemical dependencies. As Pastor Rick Warren says, “We all have sinned, we’ve all fallen short, we’ve all been hurt, and we’ve all hurt others. Everybody needs recovery.” Most of life’s “hurts, habits and hang-ups” can be addressed through this one ministry. A hurt, habit or hang-up is anything that hinders your walk with God.

Hurts– Are an emotional reaction to another person’s behavior or to a disturbing situation such as abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, death of a loved one or relationship issues.

Habits– Is an addiction to someone or something; alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, sex, shopping and smoking.

Hang-ups– Is a negative mental attitude that is used to cope with people or adversity including anger, depression, fear and unforgiveness.

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:8
