Simply Said Sept. 23 2018

Father, it is another glorious day that you have given us. I pray this morning that you would open the eyes of our understanding, and let the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shine in unto us and make us alive to truth and also to sharing this same glorious Gospel.Amen! In Isaiah 59 starting in verse one we have these powerful words. “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but our iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity: your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calls for justice, nor any pleads for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.” Quite a heavy indictment! And yet we read Hebrews 2:14 where we discover that Christ was unique! Why? “For as much then as the children were partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that hath the power of death, that is, the devil.” Now listen carefully. “And deliver them who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” I am so glad that Christ became as one of us and we see that in this next verse. He identified with us! “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.” What a powerful verse this morning! God put on flesh and blood, becoming as us, yet without sin, so he could purchase us out of the slave market of sin, setting us who were captives free, delivering us from bondage that leads to eternal separation from God and others. Not only did he do that, but listen to these powerful words. “For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.” In other words he affords help in the time of needs!

Back in Isaiah 59 starting in verse 9, this is what we read: “Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men. (Remember, the wage of sin is death.) We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.”

Hebrews 3 is glorious this morning. “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest our our profession, Christ Jesus.” If you have never invited Christ into your heart today, maybe this will help, if you receive the reality of who Christ was! “Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was, faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honor than the house. For every house is built by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things where were to be spoken after.” Listen carefully now! “But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Wherein (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of the temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, and saw my works forty years.” How long do you linger in bondage, a servant of sin without hope, strangers from the covenants of promise, lost and dying without hope in this world? Are you tempting God with your lack of faith, and your resisting of the counsel of God? Many offer you that which they claim will make you free, but it puts you in even deeper bondage and in many cases takes peoples lives. Interesting, the wage of sin is death, and many died in the wilderness because of sin.

Are you listening this morning as the Holy Spirit speaks to you face to face? “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” Such a powerful admonition and he is not done yet. “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day: lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Sin does not stand still. It is the mystery of iniquity! It expands it’s grip and holds people in bondage. Sexual perversion, drugs, lying hypocrisies, bondage and destitution. The list goes on and on, but there is one Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen to just these verses and consider. Hebrews 4:2 “For unto us was this gospel preached, as well as unto them, but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he hath said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world, For he said in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise. And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.” Then he said, “If they shall enter into my rest, Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:” How does faith come and how do people find a place of rest? Here is the answer: “Seeing then we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest, which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in our time of need.” God himself made a way for any of us to be delivered from sin and He died in your place that you might live in this world free from condemnation and it also affords you eternal life which is found in Jesus Christ. If you have not asked Him into your heart, do it today, and just by faith, invite Him into your heart and ask Him to transform your life, by making you a new creature in Christ Jesus! Simple prayer Jesus, come into my heart and save me, and allow your Holy Spirit to lead me in life that I might be redeemed and delivered, being given the gift of grace and the power of an endless life in Christ Jesus. If you do that you can write me and tell me. I will pray for you, that God would open your eyes to truth and lead you each day in this new life!
