Monday’s Though

In times past it was said that many who were at war, yes, they would pray in their foxholes for God to watch over them. I am convinced that there is a battle going on for your soul. As we approach Monday Morning, many of you will make a decision whether to go to the Word of God or not. There is a simple reality that you may not think about but is relevant today, in this time we live in. Pastor’s are resigning and churches for the most part have trouble keeping people consistent in their attendance. Proverbs 6:9-10 cries out today for those who will hear. “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep. Yet, little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.”

In Proverbs 8:1-6 we, if we are listening hear these words. “Doth not wisdom cry and understanding put forth her voice. She stands in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths She cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Unto you, O men, I call and my voice is to the sons of man.” Wisdom speaks and we listen. “O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart Hear; for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips, right things.” Listen carefully! “For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; nothing froward, or perverse in them.” Jesus spoke a very interesting statement to Nicodemus. “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak what we do know, and testify that we have seen and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things.”

Passivity in Christianity is deadly. A little sleep, a little slumber can put anyone to sleep concerning the things of God and His Savior Jesus Christ. The program of Satan has always been to create idols that others will love more than God. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.” There is not deception without a deceiver. A magician deceives by slight of hand. The devil deceives because it is the nature of who He is. 2nd Timothy 3:1-5 “This know also, that in the last days men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Then he writes in the same Chapter in verse 14. “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned. And that from a child thou hast know the scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” What a great admonition for all of us to follow. If faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the Word of God, would it not be wise to continue in those things that brought you salvation?
